The owners of Hobbs Wood approached me after a few previous design attempts to improve the house’s appearance failed. The House is an amalgamation of two earlier cottages with the linking structure. Its front was not welcoming and the entire house lacked the sense of integrity. Additionally we needed to tackle some serious damp issues. Robert and Caroline Sanderson were also hoping to gain some quality dining space.

The idea of an extension with embracing roof allowing me to pull the two parts of the house together in an eye pleasing and functional composition came to me almost immediately. Geometry of planes worked well and indeed we were able to transform the north part of the house. By adding a small but garden facing porch to the South we also added integrity to the entire composition.

My Clients were able to celebrate their Silver Wedding Anniversary party with their friends in the new, spacious dining area. The transformation of the house was quite spectacular so we all received many congratulations.
